Also, the good news is that all the camps are placed in organised area so although you are in nature, you will not miss anything – camping sites have toilets, free internet, parking and many of them even bars and restaurants where you can freshen up. Most of the camps allow pets as well so they are a great place to get to know Serbia and Belgrade in a unique way. There is also a camping accommodation of different kind, so you can find auto-camps, bungalows and tent fields on lake and river shores and mountain hills. If you want to park your van somewhere or go camping in Belgrade without permission, you will probably easily find a place and won’t have any issues, but make sure to clean behind you and respect the place where you are camping.

Officially, Serbia has 18 camps with the capacity of 4,500 beds but it seems that Belgrade is not interested in developing camping tourism although the return to the nature is very popular trend in Europe and makes as much as 25% of European tourism. Belgrade used to have three camps, Nacional, Kosutnjak and Dunav, but the first one was replaced by the big market store, while the second only occasionally receive athletes in bungalows. Still, the third one Dunav, works actively since 2010 and it is awarded as the best in the country.

– Our main guests are foreigners, because we realized a few years ago that our future is on the Internet – says the owner of the camping place Dunav. – Almost all reservations arrive through email and Facebook. Also, for years we have groups of tourists, mostly from Slovenia, as they love Belgrade. In the past, it was extremely difficult to survive sanctions and war, but now we have more than 6,000 overnights annually.

Dunav (meaning Danube) camping site is situated in Zemun, on the Danube coast, 10 km from Belgrade city center and only 1 km from the highway. It is a small camp with a specific location and a fine view over Danube and Belgrade. This camping site is very suitable for children and a cheap solution for those who want to visit and discover Belgrade with a low budget. Dunav camping offers 7 bungalows with free Wi-Fi as well as an apartment house with bathrooms.

– Many guests heard about us through word of moth, which is extremely important to us – adds the owner – Foreigners are mostly in transit and know very good what they want to see in Belgrade, and that is mostly nightlife.

Close to Belgrade is also camping site Avala, a modern camping area located on the regional road Belgrade – Mladenovac – Kragujevac. Because it is very near the urban area, once you are here you can visit city center or go sightseeing to colorful Sumadija County and beautiful mountains Avala and Kosmaj with numerous cultural and historical places. Clean air and fresh nights will make your holiday pleasant and relaxed so this camping area is ideal for city breaks and family weekends.

In the near area of Belgrade, there is also one small and nice camp under the government of camping association of Serbia and Touristic organization of Belgrade – Zornića Kuća. This beautiful complex spread over three acres of idyllic landscapes of Sumadia, with extraordinary views of the Kosmaj mountain. Isolated from the restaurant and mini zoo from one side and residence from the other, this camping has wonderful view over Kosmaj and it is a true little heaven for all campers. It is also a great stop for all of those in transit or are on their way to Greece. Visitors can use volleyball court, rent a bike or go hiking. However, the special charm of this place is modern hearth that is intended for socializing and stories along the campfire.
